The latest issue of Crime Syndicate reveals the origin story of the John Stewart of Earth-3, who went on to become the Emerald Knight. John deserves this new costume and codename, which sets him apart from the rest of the Corps. Crime Syndicate Gives John Stewart a Heartbreaking Life. The future is bright for John Stewart and his new team, who will hopefully stick around for a long time. This new focus on his character and his supporting cast is a real chance to explore John more without the threat of another character overshadowing his achievements. He's certainly earned the position, even if he makes mistakes, he fixes them and even admits that he made a mistake instead of making up excuses. Their costumes are a reflection of their positions, with the Emerald Guard having costumes that are similar with small unique flares to them and John's costume standing out among them. His Emerald Guard is completely different from the Green Lantern Corps and faithfully follow him into battle because of his ability as a leader. Green Lantern John Stewart is getting his own one-shot under his new title of Emerald Knight. So far, he's done well in the job, having peacefully defeated a New God just by talking to him and tricking Esak into limiting his powers and standing down. ![]() He's become separated from the Corps to give himself room to grow and now that he's donned a new costume and a new team, he can fully explore what it means to be the Emerald Knight. However, with the release of John Stewart: The Emerald Knight #1, he shows that while Hal is respected, John should have the spotlight now. His position as a Green Lantern has sometimes held him back, though, as the Corps tend to turn to his colleague, Hal Jordan. One of his first tasks is to defeat an evil god named Esak, and he quickly realizes he needs a lot more protection if he is going to do that.Īs one of the most famous Green Lanterns, John has had a long history of fighting bad guys with the Corps, and has shown his power on multiple occasions. Immediately he was no longer just a Green Lantern, but a whole new hero, and he needed a costume and codename to match. John became an Emerald Knight after accomplishing what the New Gods would call "ascension," meaning he's opened his mind and spirit to the universe and became way more powerful.
